5 miles.

This morning I woke up a little early, so I did 25 minutes of Pilates before taking the kids to school then heading out for my 5 mile run.  When I first started out, my hamstrings felt excruciatingly tight and I wondered if I was even going to be able to run the whole five miles.  But after about 1/2 mile, they had loosened up considerably, and I even finished my run with a pretty good time - 55 minutes, so I feel better now.  When I got home, I did another 20 minutes of Pilates, then I used the foam roller on my IT bands and hamstrings.

  1. So I was up in your neck of the woods this past week- in Island Park- for a family reunion. I ran 5 miles up there (with snow drifts as high as my head!) and it was SO much harder than here in Las Vegas. I know the elevation is a bit different between Pocatello and there, but just know that you are in much better shape than those of us running at lower elevations. :) I've been spoiled running in the desert!

  3. Rachel, I'll bet it was still fun to do a run in Island Park...even with all the snow it's a beautiful place. I have to tell you that I am super envious of you, though. I would take the moderate climate of LV over training at higher altitudes! ;) (Of course, I would imagine that in the summer, if you don't get your runs in early in the morning when it's cool, you're resigned to the indoors/treadmill/air conditioning like I am in the winter!) Anyway, good job on doing your 5 miles in IP.
